○ The District’s enrollment is significantly outpacing our student learning
spaces.
○ The projected enrollment for the 24/25 school year was 2162 students
K-12 while our actual enrollment for the 24/25 school year was 2277
students K-12.
○ All of our buildings are currently near capacity with Buckeye Valley West
exceeding capacity.
○ This recommendation comes with the help of the Buckeye Valley Facilities
Advisory Committee. A committee comprised of a variety of community
and staff members from across the district at different stages of life and
associations with the district.
○ After 18 months of analyzing data and an extensive review of different
courses of action to take to solve the district’s facility shortage, the
committee recommended to the Board of Education that the best course
of action is to build a new high school.
○ The preliminary design is a plan for 1200 students with common spaces
and mechanical infrastructure built for 1600 students so a 400-student
addition can be added when future student enrollment dictates.
○ It will cost the district and community $105 million to build a new high
school and complete other district projects.
○ The district is seeking a $100 million bond issue.
○ The projected 4.46 mill bond levy is estimated to cost a BV homeowner
$156 annually per $100,000 of assessed property value.
○ The Board of Education plans to use $5 million cash on hand to offset the
cost of these projects to the community.
○ The district plans to phase in the bond millage by seeking 2.00 mills the
first year and 2.46 mills the following year.
○ The cost per $100,000 of assessed property value will decrease over the
life of the 39-year bond as the district continues to grow.
○ No additional operating money is being requested from the community to
staff the new building.
○ Yes, the current high school will become a junior high (grades 7/8) and the
current middle school will become an intermediate building (grades 5/6)
○ With this model, the district will have flexibility for additional grade band
shifts as enrollment increases.
○ Yes, this project will include additional arts and athletics spaces. These
additional spaces include two gyms, a designated wrestling room, a Baron
fieldhouse, an auditorium, a music/band room, an additional synthetic
practice field located at the main campus, and locker rooms.
○ The BV Board of Education is negotiating the acquisition of property for an
offsite transportation facility.
○ Beyond this, additional land is not necessary, however, the BV Board of
Education is exploring the purchase/acquisition of additional property to
best address the needs of the district and the main campus.

The BV Bond Issue is a $100 million, 39 year local bond for Buckeye Valley (BV) Local Schools to build a new high school on the current HS/Middle School campus. The bond will cover the construction of a new HS building, the relocation of transportation building to a new location, and a new athletic facility (field house).
The BV School district is on the brink of explosive growth. In the southern part of the district, several large housing developments have recently been approved, bringing in over 450 homes to the district and more housing developments are expected to be approved soon. 1 In the eastern part of the district, a new development will have over 800 total units with roughly 400 of those units being apartments and the other units being single family homes and condominiums.2 “People are flocking to Delaware County by the thousands, with more than 5,100 people moving to the county last year, according to the U.S. Census.”3

Yes. Building a new HS adds the most flexibility to handle student growth. Once the new high school is built, the current HS will be a 7-8 building, the current MS a 5-6 building, and our elementary buildings Pre K-4. If growth continues as expected we could go to a Pre K-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12 when/if the time comes. If we outgrow this model, there would still be flexibility to shift grade bands.
Under our current model (Pre K-5, 6-8, 9-12) we can only handle growth at our HS and MS buildings. The Facilities Advisory Committee has identified short term options to address the overcrowding at the elementary schools. These options including moving art to a cart, moving the 5th grade to the MS, and adding modular classrooms (trailers).
This will cost the taxpayer an additional $158/year or $13.17/month for every $100,000 of appraised property value (not Zillow or market value) according to your County Auditor. The more BV grows, the less you will owe (as the housing stock increases, the costs to taxpayers will reduce each year due to the tax burden being spread out over new homes).
You can check your appraised property value on your property tax bill or by searching your property on the County Auditor’s websites’ here:
Even with the additional cost of this bond, BV residents pay less taxes than all surrounding school districts. The only exception is Marysville School District that benefits from the Scott’s Company commercial tax contribution.
